What Does IPTV Cost? A Guide to Fair Prices

Providers will not tell you what a fair price is. Here is how to spot a price that is too good to be true — and what a month should realistically cost.

Nobody publishes a reference price for IPTV, because the content being sold varies enormously. That absence of a benchmark is exactly why it is easy to overpay, or to be sold something worthless.

This guide gives you the reasoning rather than a number, so you can judge any offer.

Why There Is No Single "Correct" Price

Two subscriptions can both be entirely legitimate and cost four times as much, because the underlying costs differ:

  • Bandwidth. A 4K stream to one viewer costs roughly four times the bandwidth of an SD one. This is the dominant running cost and it scales directly with quality.
  • Licensing. Carrying a sports channel costs far more than carrying an independent channel, because rights holders charge for exclusivity.
  • Server infrastructure. Reliable delivery needs more than one origin and a proper network.

A provider whose list is mostly cheap independent channels can legitimately charge less than one carrying premium sport. Price is not the same as quality here — it is closer to a signal about what is in the box.

How to Read a Price

Prices are quoted per month, per year, or for multi-month blocks. Comparing them fairly requires reducing everything to one number:

Total cost divided by months. A "12 months for the price of 10" sounds generous until you notice it is billed once and non-refundable. The saving is real but the commitment is not.

Also check the renewal price, and check whether the promotional rate is the renewal rate. A cheap first year followed by a full-price renewal is common and perfectly legal — but it should be visible before you buy.

Red Flags

  1. Absurdly cheap for large channel counts. If a year costs less than a coffee per month, the money is not coming from the channels. Something else is being sold, and you may be the product.
  2. No channel list before payment. A provider that will not show you what is included is hiding something.
  3. Cancellation that is deliberately difficult. PayPal and card chargebacks exist for a reason, and a provider that makes cancelling painful is telling you something.
  4. Crypto or gift cards only. These are effectively non-refundable. Regulated payment methods are a sign the provider expects to be held accountable.
  5. Pressure to buy a long plan immediately. A month-to-month option is the single most reliable signal of confidence in the service.
  6. "Unlimited" without limits stated. Ask what the fair-use limit actually is. "Unlimited" almost always has a cap; a provider that hides it is not being straight with you.

Signs of a Decent Provider

  • A published channel list, at least grouped by country and category
  • A stated refund policy, even if short
  • Payment through normal, regulated methods
  • A month-to-month option alongside longer plans
  • Support that answers technical questions instead of only taking payments
  • Honest description of what is and is not included

The Cost of Switching Is Lower Than You Think

Because most providers deliver a standard app rather than a custom one, moving between them is usually a matter of installing a player and entering new details. Your TV, box and app do not change.

This is worth internalising: you are not locked in. A provider that treats you as if you cannot leave will try to suggest otherwise, and that is a warning sign rather than a fact.

What to Look For in a Channel List

Given a list, check these things:

  • Are your local channels and the sports you actually follow present?
  • What resolution are the channels you care about, rather than the headline number?
  • Is the electronic programme guide included, and does it match your region?
  • Does the list include obvious filler, such as dozens of near-identical placeholder channels?

A provider claiming 30,000 channels may genuinely have them. But check that the ones you will watch are among them, and at the quality advertised.

What We Charge, and Why

Our plans start at a single month and are listed in full on our pricing page with no tiered features removed from cheaper plans. Every plan includes the same 30,000+ live channels, 50,000+ movies and series in 4K UHD, the programme guide and support.

If a longer plan is cheaper per month, the difference is commitment, not a better product. We would rather you start with one month and upgrade once you trust the connection on your own network.

Before You Buy

  1. Ask for the channel list and check for the channels you want
  2. Ask what the renewal price is
  3. Ask what the refund policy is, and get the answer in writing
  4. Prefer a provider offering a one-month option
  5. Pay by a regulated method so you retain the ability to dispute

If a provider will not answer the first two questions clearly, that tells you enough to decide without spending anything.
